  • lemons juiced
  • honey or maple syrup to taste
  • sparkling water

Instructions

Let the crafting begin!

Fresh ginger pieces being transferred from a wooden cutting board into a metal pot, indicating the initial steps of preparing ginger-based lemonade or tea.
  1. Start by finely chopping your ginger root. Then add to your stovetop pot with water and boil.
Lemons being freshly squeezed by hand using a citrus press into a glass jar, emphasizing fresh ingredients for lemonade preparation.
  1. Juice your lemons into your mason jar. Then add in your honey or maple syrup and stir to make a sweet lemon mixture.
Me carefully straining a cooked ginger mixture through a mesh sieve placed above a bowl, separating solids to create a smooth infusion for a beverage.
  1. Run your ginger root water through a strainer to remove the ginger chunks.
Sparkling water being added from a glass bottle into a jar containing freshly made lemonade, enhancing the drink with carbonation and effervescence.
  1. Combine the brewed ginger water with the sweet lemon mixture and some sparkling water over a cup of ice!

Hint: leave a useful hint here, like let the grill run for 4-5 minutes to burn off any remnants, then clean it. I like to use this bristle-free barbecue brush (affiliate link) for cleaning the grill.

Storage

Short-Term Storage (1-2 Days, Best for Freshness)

  • Store the mixed ginger ale (lemon mixture + sparkling water) in a sealed glass bottle or jar in the refrigerator.
  • Since carbonation dissipates over time, it's best to enjoy it within 24-48 hours for maximum fizziness.

Long-Term Storage (Up to 1 Week, Ginger Syrup Only)

  • If you plan to store it longer, keep the ginger syrup separate from the sparkling water.
  • Store the syrup in an airtight container or glass jar in the fridge for up to 1 week.
  • When ready to serve, mix with sparkling water to taste.
