Ingredients

Cocktail

  • 4 oz vodka vanilla vodka works beautifully
  • 2 oz freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 2 oz coffee liqueur like kahlua
  • 2 oz pumpkin spice syurp see recipe below
  • ice
  • whipped cream or foam optional, but extra cozy
  • a dusting of pumpkin spice or cinnamon optional, for garnish
  • coffee beans or a cinnamon stick optional, for garnish

Pumpkin Spice Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tsp pumpkin puree
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice or mix cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Make the syrup: In a small saucepan, simmer water, maple syrup, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice until combined, then stir in vanilla and strain.
  • Prepare the espresso: Brew espresso or strong coffee and let it cool slightly.
  • Shake the cocktail: In a shaker, combine vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur, pumpkin spice syrup, and ice, then shake until frosty.
  • Serve and garnish: Strain into chilled martini glasses and top with whipped cream, a dusting of pumpkin spice, and optional coffee beans or a cinnamon stick.
